I need to replace the discs on my FL1.

I have been looking at all the options.

At one end there is the vented, dimpled and grooved EBC discs with green stuff pads, which works out at over £200, to a set on eBay of drilled & grooved disc & minted pads for £90 down to plain discs like the ones on the FL1 at the moment.

Is there any advantage in the EBC discs with the grooves & dimples?

Or should I go for some Brembo solid disc for £50?

I like the sound of the low dust green stuff pads. Anybody used them.

I will be towing a caravan at some point, I don't drive fast as most of the time there is no point in the congested south east UK.

Wondering what the best options are.

Are the Britpart 'sports' drilled & grooved discs any good?

The auto appears to be heavier on brakes than the manual as it 'coasts' a lot of the time when you take your foot off the go pedal at lower speeds.

don't you have to swap calipers and carriers if you are on solid and now want vented?

drilled and grooved are bollocks.. you are in a fl1 not a sports car... even then drilled can crack.

personally i hate ebc stuff, always found it crap. I'd just stick to something like mintex or pagid and make sure your system is in shape.

No swapping callipers and carriers for me.

I have one of the last 2006 TD4's with vented discs. What ever I go for they will be a straight forward replacement.

Tempted by Brembo plain vented discs & pads.

The EBC discs I was looking at are dimpled so shouldn't crack.

Replace all the worn parts including the slides and seals with new OE stuff. There is nothing wrong with the factory setup as long as it's working as it should.
Dimpled discs do nothing extra the non dimpled version do except collect debris that scores the disc.
