now evryone here knows me un me landy speshuly those that followed my rebuild thread with all the trials tribulations and hurdles i managed to get through ive finally had enough

ive had enough of the missus moaning about it
ive had enough of the slow bouncy ride
ive had enough of finding and fixing minor leaks
im fed up of feeling grounded simply because i cannot afford to run it

its currently having its MOT prep work done before i sell the bugger .....cough .....point finger ......yep i said it ........yep i mean it ........ so ill repeat it .......im selling up ........:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

so has anyone got any idea what shes worth with a full MOT

fully rebuilt with a 12j engine wich has had extensive work done to it

shes 1961 tax exempt ( not MOT exempt ) on the logbook and points scheme as a series 2 but has a series 3 wings windscreen bulkhead and dash

anyone with any serious offers if they want her please send me a PM

i thought id let you lot on here have first shot at buying her as youve all been so good to me with help and advice right through the restoration and me 2 years of ownership of the old girl

just please no silly offers such as half a toffee apple and a bag of quavers

forget the conversions and mega ammounts of work on it ive stripped and rebuilt the bloody vehicle that many times now its got like sh4ggin the missus

same old hole same moves same old same old its bloody tedious and more of a chore than anything

ive just totally lost interest in it now

guess estimate £1600+ or more on ebay, but I don't get involved in series prices

try sticking it up for a reasonable amount + reserve
look at the **** that sells for 3K on ebay

at the moment shes sat ont drive as usual having a new rear crank main oil seal fitted for the third time coz the last one should have been in a blue packet but the parts supplier thought it was cleffer to repack it as an original part

came in a landrover sealed bag but when i removed it this time round it said ****part on the back of the seal wich has shredded itself

tomorow itll be having its pannels refitted and a new flexi hose for the clutch and a couple of other little jobs done for the MOT and then shes right again

id be happy with £2K at the moment and ill even put it through an MOT for that if its cash readdies :)

just one question though

if i sell the bugger can i still come back on here ??

Good luck Johnny, I sold all my Series stuff when I bought the P38. I am confused with all the advice about the suspension problems and bought new air springs, pump kit and valve box repair kit. I have also bought a computer cd thingy with a fixit cable but havent a clue about how to work it. I am really pxssed off and thinking about scrapping the blighter. The new parts are still in their boxes as I am scared to start on it for fear of buxxering it up.I am beginning to hate Landrovers.

I'm surprised to be the first one to say you will regret it! Can't you stash it somewhere for the time being?

You will never, ever recover the time and effort you put into this, and work out what you have invested in this x £50ph to see what you are about to gift to someone.

Your call, good luck

I got hacked off as well and sold my series. I just had an endless list of jobs. Begs the quedtion why i then bought an RRC. 'no rust or rot to report' which is why i was able to poke a hole through the sil. Plastic trim hides sin. So im back to fixing stuff with no time or money. But it is fun to a point, then just annoying.
Got £1500 for mine, spent more on it, oil stains will be a reminder. Good luck selling, ebay is your way forward, do a classified and forget auctions.

sorry to hear you are off loading but I can see where you are coming from.

I hope you keep coming on though someone with your knowledge and skills would be a much greater loss to the forum than someone like me who knows jack about cars :D

surprised yours only went for £1,500 ronsealdeath that was quite a smart truck when you finished it

Course your welcome Johnny, Landy or no. There's not many who've done so much to a Series with so little.

My advce would be to say to yourself ''OK I'm gonna sell....decision made'' and then sit with the idea for a few days. If you do sell and you're not in a mad rush then as said go for a classified and ask for what you'd be happy with.

It's not a rivet counters dream but an honest rebuild with a record of everything thats been done on here.......that's gotta be worth a lot more than a handful of receipts

Kind of sad its come to this point, Johnny. I guess you've got to do what's right for you and your family though at the end of the day. Your build thread was an inspiration to what can be done with the hot spanner - particularly to a non-welder like me! Surely it has to be worth north of £2000 somewhere. Try somewhere free to advertise like car&classic.
Best of luck with the sale and whatever your next project is. :)

Sorry to hear you have come to end of your love/hate affair with your old series. If you do sell it what will you do next? I don't think a guy like you can stroll through the day without a project to think about/work on/bitch about, I know I can't.

COuld you stick an advert in LRO? I've seen some in there that look worse advertised for 5k. Thing about yours is now the chassis and bulkhead are mint and so's the bodywork (despite being 2 tone unless thats been sorted now). So yeah, sad to see it go but its got to be worth a lot more than 2k
