My abs light keeps staying on when it feels like it and I get a lot of vibation on the brake peddle under braking and the disco will not stop, hence I hit another car today when this happened but even with the ABS light is out I get this problem any good ideas would be helpfull

thanks

oh it is a 1996 n reg 3.9v8 discovery thanks again

i had EXACTLY the same fault with mine, if you search for my thread on it you can have a read through. it turns out mine was caused by a faulty n/s/f ABS sensor. ive unplugged the pump untill i can get a replacement sensor, the brakes still work perfectly but i dont have the ABS kicking in.

That is the same problem as what I am getting the only thing is I did hit some one out of a side road when I went to brake in my automatic landy:doh: with I had a manual landy would of stoped with the gear box never mind thanks for the info I will have a look on the weekend and see what the problem is, But I do not have a obd kit to plug in so I will have to do it the old fashon way and beat it until it works lol

dont need to plug anything in - there's a way to do it with a paperclip. again if you search on here for 'abs paperclip test' you'll find how to do it and a list of the fault codes that will flash on the dashlight.

untill then just unplug the ABS pump and its fine to drive. wont pass an MOT like that tho so you'll either have to remove the dash bulb or replace the faulty sender.
