Aaaaarrrggghhhh.....My Landrover Freelander TD4

Hello all,

I have been experiencing a problem with my tailgate door window on my Freelander TD4 (2006)

I am currently having to switch on the ignition, press the switch to close the rear window and then remove the fuse to keep the rear wiindow closed.

If I leave the fuse in and try to close the tailgate window, it closes and then a beep sound goes off and the window drops again.

I have tried going onto various other sites to figure this out, even sofar as following steps put forward by others having the same problem, but the window motor is fine, the wiring and slides are all fine, but for some reason it will not re-callibrate itself.

Please help.

Thanks guys, I must admit my choice of words was a little "global" and this meant that I had spoken to other people about my problem and just suspected they were from another thread on a different site. (apologies)
Still having a problem here with my tailgate window. (lol)

It's a calibration issue, can't remember the trick, I'm at work, manual at home. Post it in the Freelander forum for more help.
From memory, start car, press window up until it shuts, hold for 3 seconds.
If it still goes back down, your windows misaligned, or the regulator is caput, or the relay in the boots knackered.

Ensure the tail door is closed, the vehicle unlocked and the alarm disarmed.
On 3 door models, ensure the roof is on (hard back) or lowered and secured (soft back).
Disconnect the battery earth lead, observing battery disconnection electrical precautions detailed in the Workshop Manual Service Repairs.
Allow at least 10 seconds to elapse before reconnecting the battery earth lead. The tail door glass will fully lower approximately 2 seconds after the battery is reconnected.
Start the engine. Ensure that all electrical loads, i.e. lights etc. are switched off. Increase the engine speed to 1500 rev/min. for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds and whilst maintaining the engine speed at 1500 rev/min., carry out the following:
1. Close the tail door window fully to start the calibration procedure.
2. Fully open the tail door window.
3. Fully close the tail door window.
4. If the tail door window remains closed, the calibration procedure is complete.
If the calibration procedure is unsuccessful, the CCU will sound a warning for approximately 0.8 second and fully lower the window. Repeat the calibration procedure from step 1.
Allow the engine to idle and then switch off the engine.

Try fitting the motor and wires to control the window, wires as in metal pulley wires. Daftest design I've ever seen. You will have no skin on your hands and arms after replacing it.

Had a Citroën once. Learnt my lesson very quickly, don't buy French cars.
