hi
my name is jess and i thought id introduce me and my brother andrew with a true story
my dad has always been military land rover mad, but unfortunately he has never been able to get one
he gave his job and everything up to raise me and my brother on his own after our mother walked out,
i was 11 months old at the time and andrew was 2 and a half
dad struggled but did everything to give us the best upbringing he could,
we have both grown up now and have kids of our own,
dad is still land rover mad but still never felt the joy of owning one, (think he would be so over joyed he would probably sleep in it on his driveway)
me and andrew would so love to be able to give him a 110 military land rover like the enclosed pic to thank him for everything he did for us, but we will never be able to afford one like dad never will.
i even saw a story in one of his old land rover magazines about how the magazine helped 3 students get a military land rover and spares to travel across europe and the magazine gained a running story from it,
so i contacted them to say what a great story it would be if my dad was to recieve a 110 military land rover and cover the story in return ,a devoted caring man getting his life long dream for all he has given and gave up, but sadly they werent even interested, obviously not as rewarding as 3 students travelling the globe
well someday hopefully his dream will come true before he gets too old to realise his dream come true

thanks but we will never be able to afford to buy one and poor old dad only has a menial low paid job due to being out of the work place for so long raising us
but thank you so much

It is a story like this that makes me even more annoyed by people like the twunt who entered and won the LROi competition to win a rebuilt 110, he won it and sold it on after about 7 months and I quote him as saying "it wasn't really practical" I mean fookin 'ell :mad::mad:

Mind you that was a few years ago now but it still grinds my gears and I suppose it always will

You could do lots of things to raise funds, set a jar aside and add your loose change, do weekend chores for local folks and add that to the jar, try and find a small part time job that could boost that jar and you never know, you might get lucky and find a Land Rover that needs a bit of work that you can buy cheap and your dad can then bring it back to life :)

Good luck.

thank you for your kind words , , if i had the time to get a part time job i would, but im alone with a young son and my brother andrew has 2 young daughters,, it really annoyed me reading the story of the students being given a land rover and then taken to a big warehouse and let loose to pick any spare parts they wanted, like driveshafts ,jerry cans, water hoses etc ,yet land rover magazine wasnt interested in doing something like helping someone like my dad who has been land rover mad since he was 17, even tho i think it would make a very good story and be a touching act on their part

A story of snowflake laziness and entitlement

Sorry but I have no kind words. What are you expecting? Someone to give you a 110, in working condition , just because your Dad has a menial job? Well your sob story doesn't cut it. There are many on here a lot worse off.
We'll start with me.
I've been Ferrari mad since I was 10, can you give me a GTB275, Cos I'll never afford one.
Ok let's lower the expectations. I'd love a 110 like the one in the photo you posted. Hell if it's for free I'd even take a shabbier one. Am I a man able to work , with kids who could save their money and get me my 'dream'. No I'm not . I'm a Veteran, who has worked hard for what I have . I Served my Country and was injured, more than once, for the privilege ( the last one being what they alternately call catastrophic / life changing. ). I wouldn't dream of coming on a website like this with a sob story, and expecting someone to give me something for nothing.
You're 21 , so I reckon your ' young son' will be at school soon, if not already. So go get a job, whilst he is in school. Your brother can do the same. If you live close to each other, why doesn't one do the child care while the other works?
You could maybe get together with your Dad and brother and buy a doer upper. Then come back and get all the help in the world.
However, your being annoyed at the students , pales in comparison to how I feel about you coming on to a site, (where we all struggle, pay out hand over fist, and give blood sweat and tears to keep our vehicles on the road), and asking for something for nothing.

P.s My Dad brought my sister and I up from 2 1/2yrs and 3 weeks respectively. Without giving up work! He would have been mortified, if either of us had grown up to go begging, for him or us!

If I say please could this thread go into AG? Please.
