We were nearly doing it with 2 (myself and Lee) but it would have gone in
with 4. Unfortunately only one extra person could be persuaded to be parted
from their cosy armchair and he's not much use when it comes to moving
heavy objects despite being fairly strong and very fit - he tends to panic
and let go at inopportune moments.
We had rope and a weight lifting bar which was long enough for two people
but there was also a scaffolding pole which would have sleeved over the
other bar giving enough length for 4 people to lift. With the engine tied
closely to the bar it would have been a doddle to lift it into the back of
the Rangie. They wouldn't help despite saying they would earlier. If I'd
known that I'd have told Lee to wait until the engine crane was back.
There wasn't even a plank to walk the engine up.
The person who is currently borrowing the engine crane couldn't be contacted
and he keeps everything locked away securely when he's not there.
