will a galv chassis ever rust or is pretty much rust proof?

im loving the look of it , makes me feel all warm inside just wish mine was like that! bulkhead looks great as well mine has a lot of corrosion.

the whole front axle is miles forward as mentioned in other posts - the dampers nuts are just done up to hold the things in place till axle settles into correct position once engine and box are in - as everyone tells me...

So as off tomorrow engine goes in, then radius arms will be pushed back into chassis by weight so I can tighten them up a bit more , which'll pull axle back a bit, which'll line up dampers, which'll let me tighten nuts. allegedly.

I'm not convinced

It seems to me that the arm to chassis bushes are too thick, but once they're compressed it'll be fine. It'll be fine. It'll be fine

It'll be fine.

It'll be fine

Dunno if yer realise that the bulkhead has to be adjusted to get the doorhole gap the right size an parallel cos the tub is fixed, an my front shockers dint end up looking any better than yours even after all the body work was bolted on. I emailed a pic of it to Richards but dint get a reply.

aye Grunt - just put it on temporarily so it would look more like a landy - and to stop tripping over the bloddy thing!

Engine and box are in now and axle still well forward.. Guess you've found out that richards are great till stuff goes wrong - then calls don't get returned, emails don't get answered....

Have you put in poly-bushes? I compared the arm / chassis bushes to the old rubber ones that came out and there was 3/4 inch overall difference in lengh, with the polys being longer... which could explain the axle. certainly the spring and damper mounts on the new chassis seem to be in the correct location from a quick compare with my 110 - so I'm concluding that the poly dampers must be a causal factor.

Again phoned deflex and they say it'll bed in with use and once used for a short test drive to tighten the M20's. My local landy guru Hugh says the same.

Worryingly I heard that there are two thicknesses of these bushes.

anyway, the engine did move the axle back a bit and has compressed my HDs more than i expected, which is a good thing, so I was able to tighten things up a bit.. How your build coming on? My bulkhead resprays holding mine up now..

I've bunged the satndard bushes in they're slightly longer than the old ones which is to be expected, I reckon it's just the fact that the turrets sit upright and the shocks lean backwards that makes it all look odd. If the shocks were upright and the axle, as it moved up and down, moved in an arc then there'd be more stress on the shock mountings, any how it's just a thought.

Should have mine going next week it's getting all the small jobs done that takes the time.

Hey Muddy have you got the bulkhead in it's final resting place yet. Cos if you have how big have you made the door oles, I measured the doors and added another 1/2". I reckon I should've added at least 3/4" cos I can't get the feckers to fit.

hey Grunt - had bulkhead back from being painted (teflon military white) and literally just fitted it permenantly a minute ago..

Tell you, a bit hard to actually adjust as the footwells buckle and bend - but got there in the end.

880mm in new money between outer radius corners, although theres 5mm difference between the top and bottom on one side, which is down to my tub.

I measured from my 110 and just copied the spacing - any more adjusting I can alter the tub mounts as luckily i've got an adjustable td5 rear chassis which helps with the fannying about.

880mm is 34.64" I gave mine 34.5" so your's is 0.140 bigger than mine which is 3.5mm, Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bet yer missis is happy. I'm not at all happy with mine and as soon as I get time I'll have to try moving the bulkhead with all it's gubbins bolted on to it.
