I suspect that might be tricky. from a different angle to the one pictured earlier, the tar substance definitely appears to cover the screws/bolts holding it in. :-(

If the injector is blowing back, due to a faulty bottom seal, a mix of carbon and unburned fuel will build up around the injector. Try scraping some off and see what it is.

yup thats what it is [carbon] done loads of these due to leaking injector seal [copper washer] but when you do it make sure engine is stone cold as you can chip the carbon away,if the engine is warm or hot then no chance ,let it cool.even after removing external carbon the injector can be a #### to remove,i use mole grips to work it loose but it dont always work.:)
