I have got everything out except the tax  I don't know all the ins and outs as thankfully this has not happened to me before. I am certainly not prepared to accept less than what I paid for it in May (£2000).
It has been confusing because to start with I rang Ageas insurance, who I had the policy with. They told me that I would have to pay the excess - which I was unhappy with so I rang the broker, Swinton who said I should have rang them (!?) They then told me to stop the claim with Aegis and start one with Swinton. I must say Swinton are better, they are the ones who got me the brand new Disco to drive and won't make me pay the excess. BUT how can I have two policies? Am I insured with Swinton or Aegis? Confused!

if the 3rd party has admitid liability, it should have nothing to do with your insurance, the key fact is, he reversed in to your stationary vehicle, has his insurer contacted you?, as you should not have to be dealing with your own insurer at all..

Well, I still have the nice new landrover at the moment but I have just had a call from the engineers. They have decided the truck is worth 2k, which they offered me. I asked if there was anything but cosmetic damage and they said no. Sooooooooo.. I asked how much to have it back and they said £200.
So I agreed. Just need two headlight clusters and a bonnet now if anyone's got them lying around, lol.
It's great because I get my tow beast back and I can also afford the cheap runabout I will need for my new job!

Your insurance company will hit the other firm for the cost of hire of that new disco you are driving. That's where the real money is!

I had a young girl run into the back of me a while back the insurance co said I could have a like for like replacement while mine was repaired. I said ok its a Chevrolet pickup imported from USA please,I then said as its only a week I can make do with a family saloon, so they supplied a Vectra nothing fancy, after it went back I received some paperwork which was a copy invoice to agree I had the Vectra for 5 days the invoice amount £995.00 so your right that is where the money is and why our insurance is so expensive

when mine was bumped the first time i had a 520 estate told them needed tow bar for fri this was monday,on wednesday they offered me a 110 but would not give it to me as i told the girl i was going to a wedding so thursday evening a d3 hse turned up with tow bar.( which i managed to locked keys in boot after loading all our gear that's another story) the second time they gave me a 320 both m spec with hardly any miles. Invoices where for 69.95 +vat a day hire and extra charge for swapping car due to me needing a tow bar.

just read your story! if you look really hard on ebay at breakers, make your list out with what parts you need, copy +paste it, then send it to all the breakers etc, i bet you can get most of the parts for around £250 to do your job, you might even get the same colour, if not you will be able to find a good paint/sprayer to do the job for you, ps whilst it is stripped out get em to waxoyl the front chassis whilst access is good, as i see it is 1 of the 1st D2's,
keep us all posted, and on here we all love pictures!!!

you should have your pride and joy back to good, and spare casshhh!!

good luck!

I got a set of those lights for £10 off a breaker at the land rover show in shepton mallet, so you'd be able to pick up some parts under budget. It all depends on how much they they give you and how much they want for it.

I take it you didn't get whiplash while it was parked :p

my first disco got wrote off by a 406, Mreg 1994. they paid out £1200, and I bought it back for £150. they put it out as a cat c. requiring a vic check. I sold it on spares or repairs for £650

Thats why ins companies are offering to sort without going through your own ins. after i was rear ended in july the drivers ins contacted me,asked my cars damage then said with the age of the vehicle it would be a write off. they made an offer which i turned down then next day paid into my bank a better offer.and sent me a hire car a vw golf and their arrangement with eurocar was £12.50 a day.

Well, a week ago they offered me £2550, which considering I paid £2k in May, I was content with. I asked how much to have the truck back and they said £300. So I bought a hatchback for work with the £2k and got the truck back.
I have put a thread on here asking if anyone local wanted to do the work, as I am not really that handy with cars..
