Hi there, long time lurker, but in need of some info and the usual searches aren't pulling up anything of use.

Ok, I've had my 1999 TD5 (on 155k) since December, and I've slowly been replacing/renewing things maintenance wise in due course as previous owner hadn't kept on top of apart from the usual filter/oil changes. So UJs, Water Pump, tensioner, and just about half the coolant hoses have now been replaced (mostly because of leaks/corrosion as it more or less had 100% water in the system when I got it). Never really had much of a problem with the cooling system apart from said leaky hoses letting air into the system from time to time, the top hose did get particularly firm a few months ago, until I found that it was the connector hose on the outlet from the oil cooler had gone and it was weeping quite badly -in a place were you can't see, even with that luminous dye in! So it had been sucking air in on cool down.

It had been running sweet since then, until Sunday when (sods law) I had the in-laws in the back, and the engine decided to spit nearly all the coolant out -went into limp mode before the temp guage went off charts -anyway, had to nurse it just under half a mile to next junction as was on stretch of A1 that didn't have any hard shoulder. So engine off and waited for the AA tow truck -as only had 2litre bottle in the back, and it was more or less dry at that point. Anyway, the culprit was the hose that runs from the top of the radiator back to the expansion tank, looked like it had been rubbing against something (engine cover maybe?) as it had a nice fine inch long slit where all the coolant had been blown out.

So question, any idea what part number that hose is? Secondly, I was thinking about it anyway, but it would be best practice to have the head gasket changed wouldn't it, I taped up the hose and rebled the system just to get it into the garage, but it's probably toast now? Also, any way to know what gasket kit to get? I only have partial service history with it, but I think it's still the original (10p) engine.

Any answers/thoughts very welcome at this point, thanks!
