A little bit of burble!

Hi guys, new to the forum and I came for a reason!

The clutch has started slipping on my SIII, so obviously the solution is to stick a V8 in! I am starting to collect bits and find out the how toos. I have just got a gearbox conversion plate from fleabay so that is item 1 on the shopping list. Item 2 is the mill itself.

I want to know.

1. Engine mounts, will I have to weld new ones (don't really want to mess up my galv chassis) or can I bolt adaptors onto the old ones?

2. Exhaust, What fits or is it a custom made jobbie.

3. Will it all fit in or does the front have to be flat like a 90 or stage 1. I'm quite happy to lose fan and stuff off of the front.

4. How hard is it to do. I'm fairly practical but was hoping to crack it in 2 or 3 weekends?

5. Can I convert my brakes to LWB without swapping axles? On the subject of brakes, why is it everytime I go through mud and slosh they need adjusting, I mean like it is a really scary drive home!

On the other hand if it all looks too ugly I could just change the clutch!

engine mounts will need to be cut off and new ones welded on

rover p5 or p6 manifolds will work, you'll need a custom made system or make your own

it will fit with the series front but you'll need a short water pump and pullies to match

may take you longer than 3 weekends, depends how good you are and what problems you encounter, should never put a deadline on car building

not sure what brakes will fit your axles but the reason for the brakes needing adjustment after off roading is that when wading, your drums fill up with water, when the water has drained out, all the crap that was carried with it makes a very good grinding paste and will wear your brakes out in double quick time, always wash the brakes out after off roading, or, better still, fit disc brakes

I will ensure I have a good wash of the brakes infuture, in fact thinking about it I could come home via a ford that always has a good foot of running water in it, I could give them a good dunk in clean water.
