'98 Freelander OBD connector?

Hello. Is it possible that my Freelander ('98 1.8i 5 door) does NOT have a diagnostic (OBD) connector? I cannot believe this, but I spent 2 hours dissasmebling the dashboard and I couldn't find it. It's not behind the centre console , it's not in the driver's or passenger's footwell, it's not in the engine compartment, it's not behind the instrument panel which was also dissasembled. It's not behind the fuse box.
However, I did find 2 light-gray multi pin connectors, covered with caps (but they are NOT the OBD connector) behind the instrument panel, and another one (also covered with cap) behind the centre console.
I wonder what connectors are these? And where else can I search for the OBD?
 
Hi the connector is on the left hand side of the centre console. If you run your finger around the left hand side from the cigarette lighter you should find it.
 
Having the same problem, then I found it!! almost as it was part of the pollen filter, problem then the reader wouldnt link back to the old fashend way i guess.

Taking this further and I know that I'm not the origianator but can anyone help as I purchased the reader which was suggested in another link, but it canot make a connection. Any ideas?

Diesels weren't OBD 11 compliant until 2004 so only Hawkeye reader will work on your 98 L series. (Unless you bought the Hawkeye reader)
 
Thanks for your suggestions I will try the pin option first to see if thats it! other than that give up and take it to a garage, as abs,hill decent,and tc lights are on! and the switch on the gearstick is working fine!
 
Not had the three amigos yet myself but many posts advise a brake light switch fault, plenty of info if you use the search button as a very common fault.
 
check to see if your brake light switch is 2 pin first if its 2 pin it wont be at fault for your 3 amigos i just cured mine after 4 months
