Hello folks,

I have a '98 Discovery which is getting long in the tooth but is still plodding along fine! It just sailed through the MOT, however during the inspection the tester noticed that the drive belt (air con) etc was shredding itself to pieces.

Fitted a new one, no problem but noticed in the process that the two wires to the compressor clutch from the pressure switch had been snapped off just behind the compressor pulley. Checked the 30 amp aircon fuse and sure enough it had blown.

I've managed (with a lot of contortionism) to solder the two wires back on and heat shrinked them. I've replaced the fuse and Bingo! Clutch is now working again and cold air galore.

As I've "bodged" this back together I was wondering if any of you guys know if it is possible to easily replace the wires properly to the aircon compressor. Is it a connector on the compressor or do the wires go straight into the compressor casing?

Any knowledge gratefully accepted!

Thanks,

Simon.
