All,

This is my first post having just bought my first Defender. It's a '95 300TDI County Station Wagon and among a few other minor issues the rear wiper doesn't work. I've contacted Land Rover the motor is part is apparently AMR 1054 but they are saying there is no replacement or alternative available. I can't believe this. Does anyone have any better information. I've seen a fair few advertised on various sites but all with a different part no. will any of these work?

Thanks in advance I look forward to being a part of the forum in the future,

Regards,

Tom.

Tim,

Thanks for the reply, to be honest I was thinking exactly the same but as I'm researching this while abroad I thought a post may be worth it.

Cheers,

Tom.

I got a britpart one from LR direct for £60 inc vat and delivery but they are out of stock just now. If you can hold fire they might get them back in soon

BRITPART:eek::eek::eek:

It'll seize or catch fire or seize and then catch fire:D

Nah, am sure it'll be fine:rolleyes:

Cheapest i found was a Delco at Paddocks £117 before VAT

I was just going to query the Britpart bit having read a few other posts but I think you have beaten me to it!
Paddocks was the best I have seen also so it will probably have to be something along those lines.
Would anything out of a same aged Disco 300TDI work?

Thanks,

T.

I'd go for one from a D1. Used one from a breaker's yard shouldn't be pricy. Heck, if the shipping wouldn;t be a killer I have a couple of them on the shelf from scrapped cars...never seen one go bad.

When I bought ma 110 the rear wiper was seized. Was going to replace it but I'm tight so thought I'd repair it!

Stripped it down (only takes five minutes) and found water had leaked into the motor housing and one of the large magnets had come loose.

I dried her out used some electrical cleaning product on the motor and used strong adhesive (canna mind which sorry) to secure the magnet. Bit of PTF and some fresh grease and good to go

7 months later she's still running fine and saved me a load of money.

Have a try what yu got to lose?

Well I just fixed by britpart one. Turned out the earth to the back door had snapped inside the rubber tube that covers it between the back door and the body. I guess 17 years of being flexed with the back door was a bit too much for it.

On Ebay I've seen one with a Part Number AMR 3676 - Any chance it will work? I haven't had hands on mine yet but given it was refurbed 8 years ago by the previous owner it may have to be a replacement?

Mate I've got a rear wiper motor off a 93 plate defender if you want it? I haven't tested it but can do so tonight, if it works fine call it 15 quid and its yours

Wolf,

That's kind mate thanks for the offer. If the one on Ebay will work I may run with that as it's supposedly new and although it will be double the price after postage etc it may be better for the long term.

If it doesn't work out I will get in touch - what do reckon for postage, a tenner?
