I've just bought my first Range rover. Got it off Ebay, here it is:

eBay.co.uk: 1993 LAND ROVER RANGEROVER VOGUE TDI RED (item 190127795561 end time 07-Jul-07 14:50:14 BST)

I have a couple of questions as I have never owned one of these before. Firstly, the upper tailgate only catches on one side, and comes open completely if you tug it or go over too fast over a bump. I know the tailgates are rubbish on these, does anyone have any advice to improve it? Would be good to be able to lock it securely.

Secondly, the ABS and traction control lights are both on. Should I be worried about this? What is the likely cause?

Finally, can anyone recommend a garage or mechanic in Sheffield who is good with Landys and Range Rovers?

Thanks guys.

By the way, I did my first bit of green laning today and absolutely loved it :D Also, can't wait to give the beast a camo paint job, it's going to stand out a bit!

i have a dodgy tt on me 93 classic, and am nursing it a bit until im rich and famous.
At billing a certain tt firm is goin to be selling newuns at prices they darent mention. that probly means normal price.

some peeps just keep slamming the tt.
try this if you aint allready, once lowerd just gently push on each corner by the locks till it clicks.

not sure bout ya abs, could be a sensor. sometimes need tappin in a bit.

they do stay on till yer goin a few mph though.

Cant help with service in ya area, but ya engine oils priority.
if its grotty, its an easy peasy job to change oil and filter.
check yer other levels, until ya find an independant, or do the service ya sen.

oh yeh, seem a reasonable classic for the money.

Tried slamming it really hard, and pushing in both corners. One side catches but the other side will not catch at all, and even the side that does catch soon comes undone. Oh well, I'll just tie it down with a bit of rope for the time being. Don't use the boot much anyway, I have a van for carrying stuff, this is just my fun vehicle!

If your doing the service yourself i'd recommend changing all the diff/gearbox/transfer box oils as i did mine on the weekend and was suprised by the state of the oils. Also don't forget the front swivel joints
