Coupled up some wiring today on the 300 tdi in the 90.

I fitted the large brown cable from the alternator to the starter solenoid.

I fitted the red lead from the battery to the starter solenoid

I fitted the large brown wire from the fuse box to the same terminal on the starter solenoid

I fitted the white wire from the ign switch to the spade on the starter solenoid

Then I hooked the battery up and switched the ign on.

I fully expected to see lights on the dash and something happening when I turned the key but everything dead.
I did flash the battery terminal and got a spark but not a big one, I didn't check if the battery was flat as the love of my life phoned and I got distracted.

I think that things should work now and am going to charge battery tomorrow, have I got things about right then:confused:

every thing but white wire to solenoid ,all brown wires are battery live ,all white ingnition live solenoid wire should have a stripe ie white red ,you will have white or brown to switch and stripped wire from

That's right then so I've got it done. Must be a flat battery.

Must try and spend more than half an hour at a time on the thing then I will be on the road quicker but kids to football today etc etc..

Errrr....did you connect the battery earth strap back to the gearbox ?

Dont know I'll have a look....................bollocks, forgot about that.

Bolt it up and switch the ign on

Done that.... kin ell all the dash lights are on and the engine turns over..

Simples innit.:D:D
