I am rebuilding a 90 from the ground up and have the old problem of the transfer box not selecting low range through lack of use, is this an easy fix to get this sorted or is it a big job? I also have a superwinch PTO driven one as the electricity board use and have the matching bumper which i have galavnised question is... should i use it (gonna need some refurbing) or sell it with the bits and buy an electric one. Any help appreciated.

As for the transfer box sounds like the linkage may just be out of adjustment, or some mud/stone is stopping ti moving - just take the cover under the midel seat/cubby box up and make sure all is moving freely. If it is, disconnect it and try to enguage it using a metal bar etc to move it and if it does stay in gear then, adjust the linkage so that it is nice and floppy in both high and low (i.e. not putting any pull on the gar box leaver when in either gear)

As for winch, the main diferences are:-

Electric - works when your engines does not ! - Handy sometime

Hydrolic - does not run the battery flat, and does not need heavy duty cables and alt, but if the engine dies and your in 5 feet of water, and a guy in a freelander turns up and has to pull you out your going to look a bit silly!
