Greetings one and all - my first post.

I've had a search through for threads on this and not yet found any, but I'll be brief in case I've missed it.

Got a boatload of spare light fittings for my 90 County and started putting them in. Only trouble is the grooves in the plastic bulb holders (side lights particularly, but all really; tail lights, indicators too) seem too narrow for the bulb lugs.

Is this a known thing? What's the best course of action? Bodge the units I've got or find better ones?

Many thanks!

Worse than that, Jim, the bulbs which were with the "original" fittings (and these bulbs are identical to the new ones I have) don't go in either.

The bulb holders are RTC5012 from Paddocks. Definitely the right ones, according to their website.

I had the same problem with some "pattern" light fittings - couldn't get the bulbs in on some and couldn't get the lenses refitted over the holder cos of the size of the bulb on others... that's pattern parts for you!

I looked into it a bit more and concluded that the bases on indicators are different to the bases on sidelights - but with patterns it was one size fits all - apart for rear stop lights.

In the end just got some genuine ones.

The thing that annoys me is that on the well known but utterly useless BIG TWO sites, you type in the genuine part number for what you want and then get sent ****e.

Better to get a discount at a dealer, or buy genuine off ebay.

Yes - them.

Nothing on E-bay, but there is Land-Rover-Parts-Shop.com - anyone know if their parts are pattern or close to originals?

Yes. 5W aren't they? Even so, the holders don't seem to fit any bulb I've laid my hands on, including the ones taken from the old holders on the vehicle. It seems all to be down to the slot sizes in the plastic holders. Pattern parts...

basically if you want anything over 15 years old and isnt used on current models it will be a britpart copy as land rover sold the license to make the spares for them and they get there stuff from whoevers gonna sell to them the cheapest

so at least you can still get your lights sorted from the main stealer

Just a thought, but check the little pin things on the bulbs. I got coaught out a while back by a box of bulbs exactly right BUT for some silly-arse reason them little pins were a long way from being opposite each other, and apparently that isn't a mistake. These bulbs will not fit into bulbholders for decent Christian Imperial bulbs with pins in the right places.
