Just starting the long list of jobs that need doing....

Discovered that any key will open the rear door, so got a set of new barrels and keys - stripped the rear door trim off, got the lock/handle assembly out and went no further...

No idea how to get the barrel out of the lock and handle assembly - there's a hole on either side of the casing holding the barrel in, so looks like you may need to drift something out but wanted to be sure before jamming anything in there.

Also any advice on securing the fuel cap? The only ones to order are for newer vehicles than mine - was going to drill a hole through the cap and filler neck to get a long D pad lock on but wondered if anyone else had a better idea...

It's a 2 lug, but the lugs are on the outside rim of the cap
pointing in toward the centre of the cap. VIN on mine is too
old for the locking caps it would appear.

If you look on the 'Forum' and go down the list you will find Buster has done lots of jobs with excellent pics. The last few pics on this link show how to get the locks out and replace the door locks http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f41/door-lock-renewal-79426.html

Checked them before posting (excellent btw, guy needs to be
put in charge of Haynes) the guide is for front doors, not the
rear door on a 90 which is a different sealed unit.

Did you get anywhere with this?

I've exactly the same here issue this afternoon. If I peer down the hole in the casing of the lock I can see the barrel shroud turning when I turn the key. At a certain pont the shroud has a hole inside which I can make out the brass (?) stud on the end of the barrel itself.

Looking at the new barrels drifting the brass pin in a few mm may work to get the old barrel out but then how would the new barrel fit in?

Cheers in advance for any pointers.

Nick

Yep that is how its done. Put key in and put something in the hole on the side to push the pin in. Wiggle the lock out. Push new barrel in. Job done. Petrol cap was a pain in the arse as I took mine apart to find there was a simple way to do it, just would need to see it to remember.
