Fleet,welding up a disco
At long last I’ve got my hands on a 90!

Was very cheap and a little sorry looking as it’s been sat for 2 years
Really don’t know much about them as I’ve come from discos with 300tdi
Bulkhead was rotted in the usual places and needed a offside tub/tank support but other than that it’s pretty good had a replacemt x member around 4 years ago and new doors fitted 2years ago!

Somebody has painted it with why looks like gloss so that is one of the next jobs to get on with once it’s had the mot done on Thursday

I’ll the the pics do the talking!

It’ll be my green lane toy so am going to lift it a bit and rob all the good bits from my D1 and maybe even put all the running gear from it?

Nice.

What year/engine is it? Also nice to see someone else call it a 90, rather than Defender.

A Disco isn’t really all that different. Under the body the vehicles are almost identical with only minor differences. How the body is mounted is the biggest difference between them.

No need to lift a 90 really. Just put on bigger tyres.

Its a 1987 and the previous owners brother ( owner passed away) says its an after market turbo kit on a na engine? A mate that knows a bit more about these said he thought it was a standard 19j (I’ll go get a pic in a mo and post it up!)

I’m going to rob all the bits off the disco so a 2” lift and +5 shocks and see how the 36” simex look under it I’ll swap the axles from the disco also as I’ve got a rear locking diff and a lsd in the front!

Want a cage on it as it’ll help save body being battered and we all know what happens if they go over

36” tyres, 2” lift and locking diffs, for green laning????

Well maybe the odd pay and play
but I’m doing less and less if the silly stuff enjoy still enjoy watching others trying the silly stuff!!
Lol. :)

So long as you aren’t one of the sort who drive where they shouldn’t, ie off piste green laning ;)

What 36” tyres have you got and is your front diff and Ashcroft ATB?

Not at all winds me up when I see the damage that’s being done by these idiots!
There’s a time and a place for that behaviour!

Simex centipedes 36 12.50 16 altho thinking I may drop down a bit to help with road manners!
It’s got a Detroit lsd in the front with KAM shafts and cvs and the rear is a KAM locker with Ashcroft shafts

Took it for quick go round the block and I’m surprised how well it pulls as I was told they were crap when newlol

When perfectly set up, they produce about 85 horse, as opposed to 105 or thereabouts for a Tdi. The performance is quite adequate for normal landrover usage, although slow on main roads by modern car standards.

People were often surprised by how well my 2.5 TD went, the bad press they have had is overstated, especially for later engines with coated pistons. They are based on a 2.5 NA, which is one of the better diesels landrover made.

I’m not worried as it’s just where the cap is a poor fit..... hopefully doesn’t appear to be breathing heavy and it’s onlt done 120k,

it’ll more than likely end up with the tdi from the disco as I know the engines a goodun!

New caps on order!
