Poor connections can also seem like a bad battery, I had a seemingly dud battery, morning starts would see the revs die to a clicking starter then nothing. I thought it must be the battery but after seeing smoke from one of the terminals I realised it was bad connections, cleaned the battery terminals, reseated the earths, cleaned and reseated connections on starter and it turns over like a new one, wipers run faster and lights run brighter.

the problem is i dont know how to. ive always been into motocross/enduro so this is all new. i think if i keep coming on here and have a read and picking up stuff then yeh ill get round to sorting stuff out but for now its just for playing in as its not my day to day drive.. thanks though

i charged the battery and put it back in, starts fine. I've left it in now but not connected so tomorrow after work il connect it up and see how we get on.
i think the alternator is fine as when it was dead last night i used jump leads to start it, had a drive around and it was starting fine. i think either dud battery or something is draining. hoping its battery so i can replace and be done. thanks for replies, much appreciated

I'm hoping when i get home from work tomorrow that the battery has died without being connected. then i know its the battery and a simple fix.

Update.. just got home from work and connected the battery back up after leaving disconnected all day and it’s dead... I will pick one up Wednesday when I pick my steering lock up. Thanks again for the help

Here's hoping the new battery solves it, judging by the state of that wiring job expect to find some real gems courtesy of "bodge it & scarper" engineering as you go along with some of your other electrics.
Multimeter is good investment and not a lot (£20 territory) for one for basic use voltage measurement and continuity testing.
