Hello everyone, I'm hoping you can help me I have had to do a bit of welding on the battery box for the MOT and by the time I cut the rust off there was nothing left!

Went to mr Gott and bought a replacement for around £40.00 bargain but as I cut most of the old one out, offering the new one up doesn't seem very easy to install.

Can anybody shed any light on the process to get it in hoping seat box stays where it is???

Thanks
Josh

Fitted a new battery on mine for the winter and found my battery box to be fibre glass haha, needs replacing but found replacements expensive, £40 is really good.

Did mine earlier this year but the seatbox was off at the time so removing & refitting was a breeze, just drilling & pop-riveting with some Butyl sealant between the joints. I should imagine it will be fun fitting a complete battery-box with the seatbox in place as it is very bulky.
I was going to buy a brand-new galvanised battery-box from L&G Services (about £75 inc) but after I had removed mine I found it was actually perfectly sound so I had it galvanised and re-fitted it.

As returned.

After fitting with one coat of underseal.

Cheers guys I think I'm gonna have to take the seat box off something I really didn't wanna do! Oh well!

If you contact Keith Gott land rovers I paid £42.00 plus VAT for a complete brand new unit off the shelf.

Just about to do this job on mine, seat box is off so hopefully straight forward. Do you have a photo of your battery box? for that price if it looks okay think I'll order one rather than try to knock something up..

Yea I'll take some pics and post them up! Seat box is half off but quite rotten it seems to fix one small hole in the batt box I need to replace batt box, rear outrigger and seat box! Bottomless money pit is quite fitting description!!

Now it looks like this thanks to the battery box

Yea it seems I get to each part and end up replacing highly expensive but highly infectious!!

Might have replaced everything one day!!! I'm gonna underseal all of it whilst the seat box is off then move to the next part and so it goes on!!

Thanks Tmo for the heads up on the battery box, ordered one yesterday.

Old fuel tank out, chassis painted around tank area and new one ready to go in....loads more to do yet though.

I went for the YRM aluminium replacement as I did'nt fancy removing the seat box! It fitted nicely and cost £100 with delivery and rivets.
