Just change my thermostat for an 88 degree one from an 80. Haven't noticed any difference. I thought the temperature gauge might move up a notch or something. The heater still feels luck warm as before. Any one else change one of these and noticed any difference or have I just got a duff one?

Why did you go with a hotter thermostat in the summer? Can see doing that for winter to gain more heat from the heater.

Or he could just be fitting a standard thermostat because (and using all my detective skills here) he wants to make his heater warmer as the systems over cooling seeing as he says "the heater is still lukewarm" :rolleyes:

I assumed once you fit a thermostat it would run at the same temperature come winter or summer. I don't have overheating problems. My problem is getting the engine up to temperature.
I also thought that engines and oil run more efficiently when running at the correct temperature.
 
did you flush your heater matrix to make sure it wasnt being blocked by anything
Hi, thanks for the comment. Flushing the heater matrix is the next job on the list.
I have been waiting for the weather to improve before tackling it.
Looks like a bit of a bugger to get to the heater Matrix. I have noticed they are cheap to replace. Only about £30 from Paddocks.
I don't think its been touched since it was new.

well for most vehicles depending where you live have different temp thermostats . the desert are will have a colder one in alasks they have hotter and change with the seasons, and then the mid west has a inbetween.

My farm tractor has 3 different temp thermostats as standard. was having a over heat issue nothing severe upper limit, didn't like it. so went with a lower temp and solved the issue. and chevy, ford,dodge all have 3 different temp thermostats listed as standard oem, just depends where you live. But diesels do like to run cooler than petrol engines and do run better/efficent at lower temps
