'88 110 won't start sort of...

Hello, my 110 died the other day, when I went to start it I noticed there weren't the usual dash lights when starting. It turns over fine, but no start. I got out my tester on the side of the road and there is current at the ignition switch, and at the relay behind the fuses, but no current at the coil? Long and short of it, I took a current from the lights and hooked it to the + terminal on the coil and away we went, now after days of searching for the problem I'm still no where. Any light on this subject would be appreciated.
