Ok, so I pulled all the ht leads off of the dizzy the other day (trying to track down a mis-fire) chucked em all back on again and engine runs fine BUT my plug lead connections seems to be exactly 180 degree's out compared to the factory settings, which I found on this thread.
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/help-firing-order-range-rover-classic-22431.html

SO my question is this, if I'm 180 degree's out then how come my engine runs at all and is 16ltrs petrol for every 100km's travelled normal? Cos it sure as hell doesn't feel normal to my wallet!

Oh yeah and it's a 1987 RRC EFi and don't be telling me to go look at page so-and-so in the Haynes manual cos I ain't got one!!

Cheers in advance for any assistance

that's about 15miles to the gallon and is exactly right :p A car can't run 180 degrees out as you would be on the compression stroke when the spark fired. So either you only think you did it wrong or ya you've cracked up.

OK, so I just went an ad another look right, now assuming that THIS Product Instructions for Land Rovers
diag is correct then my No.1 is in their No.5 and and then follows the firing order in the previous thread mentioned???!!!!!!!

If I set it up as per the diagram then she won't fire up??
Or is it arse about face cos I now live sarf of the equator???

Seems to run fine, although it is stumbling under hard accelleration, which I reckon is the coil breaking down under load............unless someone knows better??

Cheers

Oh yeah and thanks for the response on the "fuel economy" (he said laughingly)
Least now I know it's supposed to be thirstier than a van loads of chippies on a Friday arvo!!

Hi,no 1 on the dizzi should be at 5 oclock(stood in front of engine)remember its two turns of the crank to one of the cam for timing, meaning if you turn the engine another turn of the crank, thats half a turn of the cam and so half a turn of the dizzi, which will explain why you think you are 180 out(youre not!),however on my 35 efi,no 1 was at 3 oclock!!,hesitating under load sounds like plugleads to me,give them a clean with wd40 or similar,or better still replace, cheers, chris.
