4th Gear Problem?

Hi Chaps

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this 4th gear problem.
I have a 1995 300tdi auto disco.
I can only get into 4th when i get to 50mph other than that i am in 3rd all the time on straight runs.

Someone told me that there is a sensor that might need replacing or i have to reset it as its to do with the heat produced from the gear box???

Any ideas?

Yes. Just changed that

are you sure it's not selecting 4th, there's not much difference between 3rd and 4th, at 52mph the TC locks up which is in effect 5th gear...

Try moving the selector to 3 and try again, then move to D at approx 45mph you should hear it change then. If not, try adjusting the kickdown cable that might hold you in 3rd without much throttle
