I can see the parts are cheep but I have a Clutch to change soon so how hard is it to split the box and change the 3rd gear + baring.

Any help on this matter would be great.

Also any other Ideas what should be changed or checked whilst the box is in bits..

Once the box is out its not that long a job. We changed 3rd on my box but I couldnt have done it alone. Probably only took an hour or 2 so to split the box and change 3rd.

My only tip is buy a gasket set, I was in a rush to do mine as I was going away. I couldnt get a gasket set in time so reused the old gaskets. Now my box has to come back out to solve the leaking (dont mind topping it up but cant handle the smell any longer!).

Good luck and enjoy! :D

Miniman, don't forget the bearings, it's best to replace them all to keep the gearbox tight, look for signs of wear on the synchros, and the shafts.
kind regards...Ron

if your third gear is gone theres a good chance theres crap in there so if i was you id give it a good clean out check your teeth and brake cleaner is great for loosing grit! bearings are a good idea they dont half get hot! gd luck!!!!!!!!
