I got my Vac pump replaced approx 300miles ago and it worked fine up until i was making my way down to kernow last night! Heard a fast ticking noise and on pulling off the M5 noticed the pedal go hard. At the services the pump was on tight, didnt seem to have any gaps by the gasket either. i did notice on the motorway that it was revving alot higher and it was only comfortable at around 50-60mph.

So in conclusion my vac pump is knackered again. Now is this as simple "parts failure" or could something else be contributing to this? maybe the servo? I dont know these parts inside out or really how they are connected. any thoughts?

I now also have to source another one before NY in kernow!

anyone know if tamar4x4 are open tomorrow? or anybody else who may have a pump in stock?

wish me luck

the vacuum pump is driven by the cam shaft, i cant see how this should affect the running of the engine though ? its just a rod that works off the cam pushing it in and out. it could be your vacuum servo unit that is faulty ?

na, its deff the pump again. but could a worn servo contribute to excessive vac pump wear?

Wouldn't have thought so. They're only connected by a length of air (vacuum) pipe. The pump is driven off the camshaft and doesn't really work any "harder", even if the vacuum is leaking away.
