Look at my name DUH LOL
Hi Mates,

I have the dash of my 97 300tdi 3 door..as in my avatar, stripped out looking for rust on the bulkhead, happy that it's clean and rust free.

While I am at it, I remember some guys mentioning that there are main B+ wires that are unfused, some sending power to the starter and a few more.

Would you guys indicate all the wires which you would suggest having an inline fuse or a fuse box installed, in order to protect those unfused circuits please?

If there is anything else you guys would suggest I look at while the dash is out, please let me know.

Thanks and cheers.

I'd lash plenty of grease around the wiper gearing for starters. As it goes back together, I would make sure any unfused wires are run in protective sleeves where they pass through/near the bulkhead. Fitting additional fuses is a bit OTT, IMHO.

Did the greasing already for lubrucation and will also spray bulkhead with wax for protection from rust.

Not adding additional fuses, that's why I said unfused wires. There are wires which does not have fuse protection which I will address. I will trace some this weekend and maybe install a small fuse box for those. My older BMWs had what is called a fuse link on the main b+ cable from factory, I think this is a good idea.

All my wires will have grommets and wire spigots, I will be installing quite a number of accessories, guages and gadgets so got that covered. I just bought a windscreen rubber too, as all that is out, it's easier to just install a new one now.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers.
