Hi all,
I'm hoping to go and see a 300tdi tomorrow with a dodgy gearbox. Were they the LT77 boxes? If I need to get a reconditioned one they should be relatively easy to find.

I have no idea of the engine condition, if its knackered I was thinking I might be best off buying a good disco 1 and transplanting the engine. Is the disco 300tdi the same as a range rover 300tdi?

Thanks in advance. I started off with a D2 that i sold, now I have a series 3 which i will keep and now have my eye on this 300tdi rrc. I have well and truly caught the land rover bug!

disco and rrc share the same box and engine,an lt77 is the forerunner to the r380 they arent the same but can be interchanged though not all flywheel housing studs fit,you are best fitting an r380 to a 300

Thanks for replies, i do like a v8 but if the price is right i will probably go for the 300tdi. The pics ive seen dont offer much clues to the condition but parts seem easy enough to come by

I have one and have noticed that 300 tdi prices are climbing faster than same age steam burners. Check chassis number to make sure it is a factory 300tdi and not a converted steamer. It would need to be an Mreg or newer to be a 300tdi genuine rrc

It's each to his own of course but I've only ever driven a oil-burner version once (a manual disco 1 actually) & was totally unimpressed by it, but then I've been used to a V8 for years
