hi, i bought a 95 disco last october and she's run fine until sunday when i was driving. i started to feel a vibration in the clutch pedal, then after depressing the clutch it felt softer and i struggled to get it in gear. then the next time i depressed the clutch the pedal was soft and i couldn't change gear. I have changed the master and slave cylinder and done away with the damper as i have been told it's not really needed. I have bled the system but now the clutch pedal is rock solid and wont be depressed. i have visually checked the push rod and it doesn't appear to of worn through the fork. Have i bled the system incorrectly or is there something wrong inside the box? i have read about clutch plates sticking together and sticking to the fly wheel. I'm in desparate need of help now. Many thanks for any help / advise anyone can offer.

I've had a look inside the opening where the slave cylinder mounts and the push rod appears to be sat in the realease arm and doesn't appear to have worn through. struggled to see though because of access i had to use a mirror and torch. i will have another look and see if i can get a better view. thanks for your reply. is it a big job to drop the box out? thanks

theres your problem either too small a push rod (not likely although i have seen it)pivot pushed through lever or bearing and carrier collapsing or pushed through worn diaphragm fingers

is it a repair i can carry out myself on my drive? with basic tools like a trolly jack. i'm quite a competant novice? or is this something i should let my local garage attempt.

thanks for your help so far.

i do one a week so hard to say for some one that hasnt, but if you could get hold of engine crane and support gear box and t/box on a chain/rope etc through tunnel shouldnt be too bad as bellhousing bolts are easier at the top if you can let boxes down and so angle engine while still having there wieght secured ,when removing/refitting support front of engine as is front heavy with vehicle bottle jack on panhard rod up to sump edge

thanks i can get bottle jack and engine crane from work. access the tunnel from inside the car? under the plastic centre console. thanks again.
