I've been sat here all night reading through searches on low power from 300tdi with auto box problems :(

Haven't had my disco long and have done:
EGR blank
De-cat
All engine/axels/transfer box oils and filters change
Checked oil condition and level in auto box
Checked and reset valve clearances
Checked all brakes for condition/dragging

The problem is : the engine will not rev over 2000rpm
Doesn't matter if i'm going downhill, on the flat or going up hill.

Have ordered a new fuel lift pump as when i changed the fuel filter i tried to prime the filter with fuel using the lift pump arm but it didn't seem to do anything?

Did you check the end of the pickup tube in the fuel tank? It has a screen to stop the big stuff but the fine stuff will plug the screen

Nope haven't checked that yet. Hopefully the lift pump arrives in the morning and i can fit it and then go for a test drive. Just had a thought: at what rpm does the turbo start to give boost at? Could it be a turbo problem?

Cheers

You could take the turbo off and it would still rev to over 2000rpm, the turbo only gives it more power to get up to speed a bit faster

Turbo on mine kicks in at 2000rpm or thereabouts, will the landy make it past 2000 if you leave it in 1st or 2nd gear ?

Does sound like a fuel problem..........how did you bleed?

If you have air in the filter its possible it will run but lose power as the revs increase.

The lever on my lift pump doesn't work very well but I have a bulb in line for bleeding, the pump itself works fine. You can always bleed turning the engine over on the starter, dont know the setup of electrics on a 300 but you can fiddle with the stop solenoid to stop the engine starting.

What max torque is at 1800rpm, turbo should start about 700rpm and then feel power at about 1200rpm and full boost at 1800rpm. Was just at landrover history looking for when turbo starts to spin but couldn't. Maybe james martin could help/

I ended up turning the engine over to prime the filter then opened the bleed screw with the engine running till there were no bubbles coming out. The engine seems to run fine, doesn't stutter or try and cut out but can't get the revs over 2k?

Check your air filter, take it out and disconnect all tubes going to motor and blow it out with air hose make sure nothing goes into motor. then hook everything back up and see what it does with out air filter and see what it gets you. Just tryin to help,

turbo spins from start up ,max torque is engine flat out pulled down to 1800 if that is max ,turbo should be felt from 1500 to 2500 ish

I'll check the air filter and air feed pipes as well to make sure they aren't obstructed. Will make sure that all the pipe jubilee clips are tight too.
Thanks for the help guys! I do appreciate it.

UPDATE: changed the fuel lift pump for a new one i had ordered from ebay, then took the car for a spin.

What a difference! It pulls away quicker, it pulls up hills better, it revs to over 3k!!!!

Thanks for the help guys - its like having a new disco!!!!
