Mystery bracket in question is near the air filter case, around a hose near the throttle cable

It's zip tied to said hose - now, I bought this post rechassis and have found a number of part-finished jobs, should I bolt this to the underside of the air filter bracket like the holes are telling me to or is it spare? Should I take it out?

Any advice welcomed

Oh I love mine, solves all the problems I had with my utility 110. Just fit in the tub lengthways! My £150 ifor williams has the mesh door - mesh is just held on with zip ties (installed by previous owner) and just has holes where the gas strut should be. Can't for the life of me figure out which replacement strut would fit.

Where's your air intake?

Here’s my special…love these as work horses . With the back on I can sleep in the rear on green lane trips

Took me ages to find a new cover, came with the solid rear but no strut. Still have the mesh door incase the dogs go inside. When this is fitted I push the mesh right over onto the roof.
My air intake is behind the headlight as it’s not a normal filter.

Struts depot on the net has a good section.

The rear tail gate is the same design if it’s mesh or solid. Remove mesh and jut add flat Ali in its place. All fixings are the same.

Thanks! Just perusing the site with the measurements between the existing holes as reference. Sadly banging "Ifor Williams" into the search only returns horse trailer struts at 2100N, which might rip the canopy in half if I fitted them 🤷‍♀️ going to fit rubber edge bindings to rattly bits on cab-end opening too, I have been modifying it as I go along as seems like the rearview portal was installed two inches too low, so already had the aircraft shears and holecutter drillbits out on it after popping the little mesh panel off. Excellent bit of extra spannering medium 👍

Oh and I'm picking up a fellow enthusiast from a welder's up the hill from us, going to ask said welder if he can slot me in at some point to re-weld the mesh so's I can stop getting stabbed by the zip-tie ends. Might be able to leave it with him, hopefully I won't lose the clevis pin if so.

OH YES and I bolted the bracket to the air filter housing. Used a standard stainless job first time which shook itself loose after 60 miles. Redid with nyloc afterwards. Extraordinarily awkward positioning needed for the spanners to make purchase, had to park up near a low wall on the side of the barn to get footings so I could reach into the engine bay to crank it down, over the front of the wing. Did so in stages as couldn't maintain position for full length of bolt. I fully understand why the previous owner left it hanging.

Search struts depot. They have adjustable types. It used the company but was working on an overland trailer & it lifts the lid with the tent on top with ease with 2 struts on. Saw the name company name on them

You may well have an "Agri spares" place near you, they will have a selection of struts used to lift open tractor windows and other access panels.
