hi all, yes ino this has probably come up before, but i cant seem to find anything,so here goes! iv ben looking into intercoolers, and tuning for a 300tdi engine, and there are soo many things u can seem to do with them, but i dont want to go mad,and shorten the life of my engine, and use loads of fuel! has anyone fitted the standard size, but preformance intercooler from allisport,if so how is it,and was it worth it? also i have seen figures of up to 180 bhp  from a 300tdi,realy? if this is true,i would love to hear how!! :D

thanks, tom!:D

With a tweaked fuel pump, de-EGR, de-cat exhaust, a full width intercooler, and a good clean out/service - you'll see around 135bhp tops.
Maybe 150bhp if you slapped a Variable Vane turbo on it.

coooool, good enough for me mate,i was going to put a streight thru down pipe on,and blank the egr,put a new intercooler in,but not a full width one, because of the oil cooler, and iv heard that the bigger onces cause pressure loss ,so you have to boost the turbo! clean inlet manifold, and replace pipes with the traty yellow ones, and give her a tweak up,and maby **** around with the turbo abit, but not too sure on that one!! and then give her a gearbox oil change,as it has done 95k,and has never had one,so that might help aswell,as its auto!! but the tubos are silly money so ill give that a miss! thanks for the input tho!! :D

Someone linked a kit off ebay with a bigger intercooler and a drilled out manifold. The price seem good for what you get,but it was for a fender so not sure if the pipe works different. Alot of people say the bigger intercooler does make a difference.

Mine is running a full width intercooler and doesn't interfere with the custom made auto box oil cooler which is 3x bigger than the standard one.
You do have to move it slightly though.

well i will have plently of time with the thing to tinker, but im abit tight on funds,so spending a good 400 quid on a intercooler will not happen quick, its handy as i can do most things myself on the old landys, but at the end of the day,it is a landrover, not a race car!! if i can get about 140 bhp from the old girl, thats more than enough!! its going to be my everyday car,and my greenlane toy,but not silly modifications!! im driving a series 3 88 inch at the moment,so i have time to sort the disco out before i insure the old girl!! :D

yea i see what you mean ,ino its not a race car,so im not going to try to get it going like one,but it needs a gearbox oil change and a good service i think first, and then i can start on all the other things! thanks for the replys anways! :D
