300tdi intercooler upgrade without going aftermarket

I want to upgrade the intercooler on my 97 300tdi disco. Does anybody know what intercoolers fit from other manufacturers? I think i've seen saab and iveco mentioned while doing searches? Obviously it's to do with where the pipes sit.
Has anybody fitted an oem intercooler from another manufacturer?
I want to upgrade to a bigger intercooler but like to do it without shelling out £300 plus for an aftermarket alloy one.
Has anybody got any experiences/suggestions what will fit?

depends on wether its manual/auto air-con or not, as the oil cooler and and air con fans etc make it harder to fit a bigger 1 thats why i shelled out the cash for a allisport 1. if yours is manual without air con i would look on eblag and ask for dimensions at ones for sale as it would be easier to mod 1

is it possible to fit a d2 intercooler that fits infront of the rad.
