Recently a red light flickered on my dash while on a long drive. Once I got home i looked it up and its apparently the High Temperature in the gearbox (little red F) anyway, paranoid I now hear a slight whine, I still use the old car regularly on long drives 500mile round trips and it continues to flicker for a bit then go out. I checked all the oils, diff, hubs and gearbox, transfer box and it all seems good.
I am now wondering what else to look for? could it be a faulty wire and sensor? If it is the gearbox, I have an old 3.9ltr V8 that I have stripped down. It looks the same gearbox (I would have to use the 300tdi bell housing is this possible? Only difference I can see is the V8 has an oil inlet and outlet to a cooler that sits under the radiator. Any help much appreciated, as it is my daily driver and is used for long drives. Thank-you/
