300tdi fan

Hello,

I just bought my first 300tdi defender yesterday. I was aware that the fan was missing when I bought it. I was looking to find a new one and presumed it should have originally been a viscous fan but looking at the pulley it doesn't seem to have the threads to accept the viscous fan nut. Am I missing something? Please see attached photos. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Yes, you are missing the flange that the viscous coupling bolts onto. Looks like someone has been modifying things.

Thanks. Very strange, I wonder why anyone would do that. I take it I need a whole new front section of the engine (part 14 in your photo) as it looks like it's one piece.
