Hi everyone, I've been searching the net all day and reading about this before I posted but here goes, I've got a 300tdi edc auto and its using fuel like its going out of fashion it's done half a tank and not even done 100 miles on that. I've changed air and fuel filter checked for leaks and found nothing. Going to check for leaks on intake manifold and boost pipes. Just wondered if anydody else has same problem or can point me in the right direction as its costing me a fortune

How are you driving it? I'm sure I could make mine do 100 miles on half a tank if I drove it hard enough.

If that's not the problem, I've read on here that the lift pump can leak fuel into the block so it might be worth checking your engine oil level to see if that's where your fuel is going.

Yes checked all them. I did unplug the air flow meter earlier and it made no difference whatsoever to the way it drove so I've changed that hoping that it wasn't working so ill have to monitor it again. Don't suppose anyone knows what the difference in the mileage would be due to bigger tires. It's got 265/75-16 so I'm guessing the miles it reads is not the same as it is actually doing

remaps are not easy on a 300 as the chip needs to be unsoldered and a new one soldered in & most places don't do that anymore, they just like plugging a computer in downloading a new image and sending you off.

is your fuel being stolen as it must be going some where.

My Auto EDC looks like it can do 100 miles on 1/2 tank but it does not, have you filled it to full and checked?

Mine will do 300 miles upto half then 150 to absolute empty on a run.

When I 1st got it, there was a leak under the fuel filter which put diesel on the road missing the engine, so I missed it for a while.

resurrecting this thread as I am having the same issues

get 300 miles around town on a full brimmed tank to yellow light

i have a winch roof rack etc but so does a m8 of mine with same 300 tdi auto edc and hes still getting 400+

had a replacement afm made no difference. Checked oil for leaks, checked pipes and wires i can find, checked fuel filter for leaks as well

how did you get on in the end ?

Never found any leaks changed the air flow meter never really made much difference but am using a set of road tires during the week which is saving quite a bit and just putting the other tires on day before I go off road. Think I've just got used to it now and accept its **** lol

Dam

I checked everything suggested. Its going back in next week diagnostic check landy sepcialist

temping to junk it all and get a mechanical pump
