Hi all

Was loaded with trailer and v8 trialer and as usual engaged low box to reverse up the hill to get to level ground. I was turning at full lock but at very low speed and felt/heard a bang and thought I had reversed into someting so got and nothing. Got back in and completed the manouvre and put the xfer box back into road drive and nothing...nada!

Still have all gears in low box and drives as normal. This happened on the 23rd and then I got hit by the cold from hell until today, so will have a look tomorrow but thought this a good place to start.

My first though was CV as I must still have output shaft on main box to engage xfer but did not think a CV would go at such low speed.

Your thoughts please peeps.

Nick Brown

how come if you only have drive in low ratio you must have bust high gear or cant select it,unless your putting it into diff lock as well as low

Thought it also might be the high in the xfer box. Stripping the consol off tomorrow to have a look at the linkages

Going to have a better look tomorrow and thanks for the interest so far James. Going to have to repatriate the competition car and trailer to storage using my mates Freelander in the morning and get the Disco on the drive. To be honest this all happened at 0600 on Sunday morning then the cold hit later in the day. I have stripped the consol up to taking the h,brake lever off but obviously need it on level ground.........it has taken all my strength until now just to have some sort of a christmas with the family.

Ok

Jacked the front up and front axle is fine. Nothing in high in difflock so guess a salvage xfer box is the way forward.

long shot but had it on mine, with centre consul out check high/low selects fully . had to nudge mine with bar as plastic inserts on link rod had disintergrated . couldn`t get road gears just low. soon sorted

Cheers Albert.....nearly at the top of the gearbox but ran out of time today. That was going to be a first in the morning before taking the inspection hatch off the box.

Woohooo! I got energy and an appetite back so hope few got the orrible lurgey that's been about
