what it says. It locks and unlocks, but instead of going "clunk" each time
like it used to it goes "brrrrrrp", as if the solenoid is firing about 12
times in rapidfire rather than just the once. Any ideas?

The driver's door will only lock mechanically with the key, but I reckon
that's 'cos it's stiff and defeats the electrical locking, making it bounce
open again. Irritatingly, such failed locking arms the alarm, so when you
absentminded open the door it hoots at you.

Hi Austin,

It is often that the over centre spring breaks on the latch causing it to
mess about.
This is common to all Disco's and RRC. An enterprising chap is selling these
springs on ebay all be it a stupidly high price because the only other
option is a new latch.

When you say rear door do you mean the 5th door ??

If so have you fitted a new number plate to it recently?

One of my customers was complaining of the same problem and it turned out
that he has used a very long self tapper to secure the number plate and that
was jamming the latch!

Hope this helps
