300tdi dies when accelerator pressed

Hi everyone I'm a newbie to the defender world

I've had no problems with her for 3 weeks then today I was going up a hill
Ad it lost all power and struggled to tick over ,

Thought diesel starvation so roled back so the 90 was level

Started fine ticked over fine then pressed accelerator all power loss splutters struggles to keep revs then about 30 seconds gos by back to normal

It'll struggle to ill the skin off a custard not good

Probably fuel filter but could be blocked pick-up pipe in the tank, lift pump fooked or sucking air into fuel line.....for starters.

Change fuel filter first and see how it goes

It was the lift pump totally shagged thanks for the advice

Id still check the filter, my 300tdi will run quite happily with no lift pump, a bit slower to accellerate, and a reduced top speed, but runs just fine.
