I've had a 300 in my series for over a year now, but over the weekend the power steering pump (which I changed into an idler pulley) did the 300 trick of spitting out the shaft allowing the pulley to mis-align itself with the serpoentine belt.

I don't like the idea of buying a perfectly good pump just to gut it again, so I was wondering if anyone out there had the part number or even some advice on what belt would allow me to just bypass the pump and run straight from the crank pulley to the alternator. This seems the simplest and most reliable solution.

Cheers,

Pete

The part number for the Dayco Poly rib belts contain how long they are.

7PK1076 = 7 Ribs and 1076mm long

Normal 300tdi belts are: 7PK1580 or 7PK1575 , If you measure the distance that your new shorter belt should be and go to a motor factor, they should sort you out.

I use bearing boys for belts, reasonable prices and delivered on line, they also have a calculator on line ( i think) to work out what size you need.
