rocker shaft has snapped into 4 bits
two head pedestals broken
one head pedestal stud hole stripped :(

i would like to hear of any suggestions why this happend
the only thing i can think is that the stud was overtightend and partly stipped the thread in the alloy head

i intend to "recoil" the thread and fit second hand shaft and pedestal

any tips welcomed :welcome2:

any pics?
summats gone wrong to snap in 4 places.
what rpm where it doing when it went bang?

i was doing 70 mph (+) when it pulled the rocker pillar stud out of the partly stripped thread in the alloy block . a big bang !!! WTF !!
a re-thread in the head and some second hand bits sorted it out.

cheers

I am afraid that this is a fairly common problem. If I were you, I would Helicoil all of the stud holes during the replacement to avoid a re-occurence. You need an M8 Helicoil kit which are fairly inexpensive
