Afternoon all, has anyone had an experience with fitting a hybrid turbo and a aftermarket boost pin to a 300tdi engine? Or are people just running the standard boost pin with a hybrid turbo.

Cheers

Welcome to LZ! :)

On a high mileage or worn engine, I suspect the results of trying to enhance performance will be engine failure in another area.

Standard is really quite adequate for normal use.

Mainly looking into one as you can get a hybrid for not too much more then a standard one. My engines only got 50000 miles so should be able to handle the slight increase of power. Dropped my turbo and cracked it why im looking into it at the moment haha

EGT is the critical and limiting factor for 300 Tdi performance "upgrades".... the CH is made from an alloy which, reportedly anneals at 720 C. .... So, you'll need a good, accurate EGT gauge....

I know someone who ran a 300Tdi at 200HP output - it was fine and dandy until he melted the CH with too much fuel ( I.E. too much fuel for too long ).

I'm running an enhanced 300Tdi, coming up on 140K - last 40K at 145Hp output.... fully synth oil, and maintained fastidiously ....

More power is available, but IME, the intake roar is intolerable...

Also, can you insure the thing with such mods ? I had some issues in this regard, so ....

Thanks for the info :)

My thoughts the same with the exhaust temps especially if using a boost pin too. For the time being i welded up the crack today and seems to be fairly happy at the moment, i was quite surprised with the insurance it didnt add too much. Quite a shock due to my age haha
