Hi All, I recently changed the oil and filter in the auto gearbox and its not acting the same as it did before the change. Before the change it used to hold overdrive up hill at 60mph no issue and had to be pretty steep for it to kickdown. Since the oil change it kicks down at any opportunity and round town in second, small acceleration it will kick down to 1st. I haven't touched the kickdown cable and its only happened since the oil change The oil is Comma ATF from Island 4x4, is crap oil to blame here?

probably not, but when was it last changed ? you might have stirred up a load of crap within the box, ... Have a nosy at the FAQ's on the ashcroft site - lots of useful info - including how to adjust the KD cable - a five minuit job :)

Sorry for the slow reply here. I forgot to mention that a while ago it dropped all its gearbox oil on the motorway and it hasn't been the same since. Is there maybe some valves knackered now and friction plates? I debating putting another box on but would like to rule out any suspect easy checks. I have done a stall speed test and it revs to 2400rpm.

Well, if it was run without oil , I'd suggest there will be a few issues within the box. Our resident expert on the ZF boxes ir, IIRC, @Bemble - so hopefully he'll be along shortly with some sage advice :)

That's my suspicion. Thanks, look forward to hearing from him :)
