300tdi and gearbox out as one unit?

Any one know if its possible to lift a 300tdi and gearbox out as one unit?
I have been told that they must be split or you have to cut away the front panel
I have a 180k engine with a broken gearbox in at the moment and a nice low mileage engine with a good box already attached sat waiting
Any hints?

It will come out as one unit but it's easier to split them, less weight, less hastle.

Not easy without chopping the front panel out. Problem will be the transfer box has to be rotated down to allow the whole lot to come out and either the floor or the front axle will be in the way. I've taken a few out of scrappers but the front panel is always gone first.
