Hi guys
Does anyone know if a 300tdi complete thermostat housing will fit and work on a 200tdi, i'm after the bottom part of a disco 200tdi thermostat housing ERR492 but they seem to be like hens teeth to find, the top half ERR809 is quite easy to find which I've bought but if the 300tdi one will work I will go for that as there are loads on ebay new and s/h :)

Have you tried lapping the faces on a flat surface with some wet/dry to make sure they are flat?

Tbh no as it was just a slight leak, the problem is 2 of the 3 bolts that secure the two together were nut and bolted and I found the other just a bolt was stripped in the threads which I think is where the leak is coming from, I have just had a quick look at the thermostat housing and I think if I can find a suitable nut and bolt for it and grind a flat on the bolt head and fit the bolt upside down and secure the bolt with the nut it should work :)

It's only alloy, should drill and tap the housing to M8 and it should work.

There's next to no room the drill out to a bigger size as the outside of the body is very close to the 6mm holes, I've managed to grind a bolt head down but to get the bolt through upside down I will need to remove the top part as the bolt want's to go through at a slight angle and the top part is stopping it going through which I will do only I wanted to get the rad hoses fitted first which I have done now, just need to fab a bracket to support the bottom hose as its behind the front X member :)
