How would one do a search to find out if a 300 exhaust manifold and turbo would work ok on a 200 tdi ?

I've tried and failed

ta:)

Yes fits
Google series 2 club, workshop wisdom, then 200tdi section.
People fit them for exhaust routing problems.

that's good news then, trouble is it means more work cobbling exhaust together but worth it as its a new 300 turbo and at least it'll last a few hundred th:Dousand now

ive done this im my 90 works a treat! the exhurst is able to run alot better rute as its neer streight down just cut an angle out of some 60mm tube and weld the flanges on each end :) thats how i did it (im a fabricator) n it was easy haha

Yes I did the same for my SWB Series 3 200tdi conversion! The original turbo was too close to the chassis rails!

Dont know whether to do this or leave the 200 one on for now.

Does it blow the same pressure any one know please :)

200 turbo and 300 aint much different ,just the way they fit ive only ever used disco one with disco engine but do lift mounts a bit in series to help downpipe fitting and it looks better in engine bay

I'll not worry about fitting it then. It would suit better in defender bay and intercooler pipes would be away from the inner wing as well.:)

Don't know if this helps you but the 200tdi turbo will fit the 300tdi manifold, only ball ache is separating the compressor housing from the rest of it (sorry I'm not that clued up on turbos!) the bolts will be well and truly seized so I had to grind them off and then shock the clamps off with the mig. 4 new bolts and it'll be bolted onto the 300tdi manifold

I've not trial fitted it yet but you may need defender 200tdi oil feed/return pipes for this setup as they are longer than disco ones

Got the full manifold from 300 tdi with inlet exhaust and new turbo and oil pipes so no problem fitting just manifold bolts and pipes.

Got downpipe as well back to gearbox so just deciding what to do at the moment.

Defender is running with 200 turbo now so might wait till after mot and see how it goes.:)

Do the 300 pipes fit into the 200 block ok do you know? That might be some help to me

No, one of them does but the other doesn't, you will need the 300 housing off the block so both pipes fit.

Also the 300 pipes are shorter so wouldn't reach the 200 filter as it's further back on engine.

Dopey me...I was thinking you meant the oil cooler pipes.

The turbo pipes are different lengths but look to be the same fittings.:)

Right then smartarse...........

How did you get the dip stick to clear the manifold then eh..eh...eh.....come on then do tell:D
