300 tdi wont turn of now and again

now and again it wont turn of but if i pull the wire of the stop solenoid turns of no problems then replace the wire and starts perfectly, has only done this twice since my mum told me about it,

what are the options gezzers

could it just be the stop soleniod is on its way out??

oh and i did search but couldnt really find much

If it stops when you pull the wire, its not the solenoid.

Its a supply fault, maybe a sticking relay??

On me 200tdi Disco, It was the switch cluster that was faulty. but in your case I suspect the electrickery bits at the rear of the ignition lock mechanism is faulty.
