300 tdi vibration

hi all.
have used this forum to solve most of my minor problems using the search,but cannot seem to find anything on this.

i have a 96 300 tdi which has a vibration at 30 mph but only when in 4th gear.
it sounds like something against the bulkhead but i could not find anything apart from some loose soundproofing which i glued down but it is still there.
i do not think it is drive/bearing related as it stops at around 35 mph.
anyone had this happen before?.

does it happen if u coast? or just while under drive?

just under drive.
have tried coasting with no throttle/clutch in and in neutral.

I normaly climb underneath, grab hold of the front or rear prop, and move them up and down and side to side, checking for play in the uj itself. Youi want to see if there is any play between the uj cup and the yoke of the prob
